Every year in my mom's class she hatches baby chickens. She gets eggs at the farm supply, does the incubator thing, turns the eggs and waits 21 days for them to hatch. The chicks hatched yesterday so today we went to visit the baby chicks. Emma was a little unsure about the little peeping animals so she just stood at their box and watched. Finally by the end of our visit when I held a chick she would touch it. I think she will be much more interested in the chicks next year.
Don't worry, my mom doesn't keep all of those chicks! She will return them to the farm supply store tomorrow. She definitely doesn't have chickens running around all over her house. However, she has had to take the chicks home the past few night after they hatched.
Year in Review-Month 4
Obviously this was the day she turned 4 months old. She was really smiling and working on sitting up at this point.

It took us a good week or so before James really enjoyed his milk. He would drink it but would be kind of grumpy about it. We figured it was because he didn't so much like the cold milk (as opposed to the warm formula that he was used to). We zapped the milk in a mug for 30 seconds (enough to take the chill off) and he liked that. Dr. Siegel also suggested mixing milk with formula for a bit and gradually easing him into it. We didn't have to go that route since he liked the microwaved version okay, but it might be worth a shot. Now when he says "ba ba" he means milk, and just like his mom, he chugs the stuff! Don't worry, Emma will get used to it and before you know it you'll be stockpiling the moo juice! (Or you can buy some and freeze it, just like Babs!)
