Cousins

I feel like Emma is so lucky to have a cousin so close in age. There is about 4 months difference between the two and do they ever have fun together! We all met up at the lake this weekend and those two had a ball. I think they started playing both mornings at about 7 am and didn't stop until it was bed time.

The cousins really enjoyed the new swing set. It took three weekends of work but it was finally ready for some little testers.

After some early morning playing...notice they were wearing pajamas while playing on the swingset...we went out to enjoy the lake. Our hubbys and Honey were so nice and stayed at the house and watched the girls. We went out and enjoyed the beautiful weather and music and the "Hot August Bluesfest".
I don't think I could ever get sick of looking at the relaxing water and blue skies.
Oh, and listening some good music!
And could you ever get tired of looking at this cute baby cousin? I sure can't-look at those eyes!

Love us some Taylor Swift

I am sitting here working on a post about our weekend, but I just shot this video. Emma loves Taylor Swift about as much as my Sirius stations do-so she is constantly dancing along in the car. We are watching the replay of the CMA Musicfest on TV and on comes Taylor Swift-someone had to get up and dance along.

2009

Yep, it is 2009 and that means something big...Reunions! It is time for mine and Bradley's 10 year high school reunion. Wow! Where did the time go? It seems like it was just yesterday that I was moving into the dorms at Ole Miss and enjoying the laid back days of going to some classes during the day and having free afternoons-oh, and let's not forget the glory that was making out your schedule where you had no Friday classes! Those were the days. Ok-getting off subject.

What is everyone's feelings on Reunions? Bradley's is this weekend and we are not going. It was his decision and he decided no. He says that we already hang out with his friends from high school-very true-and we don't need to pay to hang out with them this weekend. Plus, most of his (our) friends aren't going anyway.

Mine reunion is in a few weeks and I am still undecided but really leaning towards no also. The Friday night event is going to the Football game-that is a definite no. I haven't been to a high school football game since my senior year and I live in the same city as my high school. I am not starting now. The Saturday events-Family Picnic and dinner/drinks at the Museum sound a bit more appealing but still can't decide. I don't know what my hang up is.

Did anyone not go to their reunion and regrets it? Did you go and wish you hadn't. I need some help here! If I ask Bradley he is going to say not go!

Sorry-no high school pictures-no digital cameras then-at least I didn't have one!

Awesomeness

Speechless, that is what I am! Ragan just posted two pictures from our shoot on Saturday and I LOVE them. I have posted Ragan's website over on our favorites or you can click here. She is located in Jackson, MS so if you are near the area you should definitely contact her. Emma really liked spending time with Ragan and I think it really came through in the pictures.

Wedding Pictures

Courtney's photographer has posted her wedding pictures. Yay!!! There are lots-tons...let's say 500, but she did divide them into two albums. She got some goods ones of Emma-I wish I could post my favorite but I can't figure out how to off of the website-sorry. Enjoy looking around

There are two albums so two different passwords-you get the idea of how this works
Passwords-you have to use correct capitalization

On a related note, I don't ever think I shared this picture

This was the surprise that I talked about so long ago. It was really Courtney's wedding and a surprise to her so I wanted to let her share it first. By the time she got around to sharing it was old news and I never wrote about it. Can't remember this guy's name but he gave a speech at their wedding. There is a group of 4 friends that are traveling around the country trying to accomplish things off of a list of things they want to do before they die-kinda like The Bucket List. MTV has picked up their idea and will be doing a show about them. So MTV shows up at my sister's wedding to tape this guy making a speech-his list item was to make a speech at a stranger's wedding. We think the show will be sometime in September, I will let you know.

Out Early

This evening I got home a little early and started on dinner. I tried out a new recipe for a Paula Dean's meatloaf. It was pretty good-I don't know if I will make it again-but made for an enjoyable dinner. We had it with some leftover hashbrown casserole and corn souffle. Now the corn souffle-that is a good recipe-I will have to share sometime. I don't feel like getting up right now and finding the recipe! Anyway, I am trying to make more of an effort to cook at home during the week. It is so darn expensive to eat out and we usually eat out most of the weekend, so why not stay at home during the week?
Bradley is great about playing with Emma and keeping her out of the kitchen while I am cooking. Tonight I thought it was a bit quiet but I just thought they were watching cartoons or something. I glanced over to check the time...

Then looked in the living room and this is what I see

It was just one of those day where naps didn't come easy and bedtime came early. That is bedtime for the little miss. You better believe I woke Bradley up for dinner after I worked on that meatloaf!
Seeing those two this afternoon reminds of days last May!

At the office we have a tradition of marking your height on one of the walls. After each doctor's appointment we put the stats up on the wall. Taylor started the tradition and Emma, Grace and Reagan each have a panel where their stats are marked. The girls have a long way to go to catch up with Taylor!
Emma watched Granddaddy mark out her measurements.
She needed to check and make sure they were correct.

Got my new shoes on

We can really tell fall is looming! The weather this weekend was great. It was just one of those times that you just couldn't help but be outside.

Friday we took Emma to get some new shoes. We decided on these white leather Mary Jane Keds. I thought they would be a good transition shoe for late summer to fall. I still want to find Emma some tennis shoes for fall but just haven't found any I like yet. I love the look of tennis shoes that tie but I am thinking Velco might be more reasonable right now!

After our short shopping trip we went home to cook out with Zed and Lindsay. I think Emma is in the process of giving up her two nap schedule and just going to one nap per day. She went to bed pretty early on Friday because of this. I am pretty sure she was asleep before they got to our house at 7. We were able to cook out and enjoy some Phase 10. I have been reading about some other people enjoying playing Phase 10 with their friends and I couldn't be happier. My sister introduced us to the game and I have been obsessed ever since. I seriously think I have taken it to the lake every weekend this summer for us to play at night.

Saturday morning Emma and I woke up and got ready to go get some pictures taken. One of my friends from high school, Ragan Oswalt, is a photographer and was in town. We met up for a little photo session and I can't wait to see the pictures! She showed me some as she shoot and I have a feeling they will turn out wonderfully. She said she would put a few on Facebook soon, so I will post them on here as well. Ragan lives in Jackson, MS so if you live in the area and need pictures you should definitely check her out.

I took Emma home after the pictures and put her down for a nap then it was off for a little shopping with my mom. We hit up a little clothing sale at someone's house and then the basic kid's stores at the mall. I needed a few summer to fall transition outfits for Emma. It seems like right now is such a difficult time to dress for-it is not burning up hot anymore (at least not this weekend) but it is still too warm for pants and long sleeves (which is what is in the stores).

After shopping it was time for dinner at our fav-El Porton with Zed and Lindsay. If I haven't said it 20 times already the weather was beautiful so we got to sit out on the patio. Emma had so much fun forking her tortillas at dinner!

Sunday when I got up and opened the door to let the dogs outside, I decided it was going to be a perfect day for the zoo! In Memphis we are blessed with a wonderful zoo and we hadn't taken her yet. Around lunch we made our way to the zoo along with all of the other people who also thought it was a wonderful day for a zoo trip. I took a lot of pictures yesterday and I think I will probably end up making a slide show of all of our pictures. When we looked through the pictures last night, Bradley said this was one of his favorites so I figured I would go ahead and post it!
Oh, and Courtney's wedding photographer posted pictures from the wedding so I will post about those soon!

Learning to get dressed...err...undressed

This is how I found Emma after her nap this afternoon.
You might be wondering why she is still wearing her pajamas after her morning nap. I have this little "rule" that if she is still in her pajamas at 3pm then she gets to stay in them! That is unless we have something to do after work. It is a fun little rule-sometimes I wish I could stay in my pajamas!

Lilah

I guess Emma has inherited our love for dogs. She loves her some Delilah and Cassidy. She can't get any form of Cassidy's name out yet-we tried Cassie and Cass-but for now she is called dog. However, the grumpy dog in our house is now known as lilah.

This morning I got out of the shower and walked by Emma's door. She started yelling something and then I realized what it was. She wasn't yelling mama or even dada-she was yelling "lilah" over and over again.
FYI little miss-Lilah can not feed you, pay for diapers nor does she care to really play that much. Lilah would prefer to sleep all day!

Randomness

I worked hard all weekend embroidering over 75 chair bags for two local elementary schools. When I say I worked all weekend I mean I didn't leave the house until late Sunday afternoon and that was to get a few supplies. Oh, you don't know what a chair bag is? Here is an example of one that I did...
wanna see more, you can check them out at Emma's Closet. We were extremely lucky to have Taylor come and stay with us this weekend. She really help take care of Emma while I was super busy. I don't think I could have gotten everything done without her.

Recently Emma has gotten interested in trying to dress herself. She is exploring how to put on her own clothes. She can recognize what articles go where-like shoes on her feet but she has yet to get anything on by herself!

Look what I got in the mail yesterday! I won a giveaway from Magnolias, Marriage and Manhattan for stationery from Urbanity Studios. They were great at working with me to customize the notes card that I picked out. Go check them out!

We went for our 15 month appointment yesterday. Emma weighed in at 23.6 lbs (60 percentile) and 31 inches tall (60 percentile). Our doctor had given us an assignment of Emma saying 8 words by this appointment-we went over our words and we have 10 words that are recognizable by everyone right now and a few more that are recognizable by me and Bradley but not necessarily everyone else! Our good words are: mama, dada, bye bye, nite nite, lilah (Delilah), ball, uh-oh, hi, baby, bite bite, dog and our favorite new word this week-NO! She loves to bring me things that she knows she is not suppose to have and then say "no, no, no"-it is so hard not to laugh at that.

Emma loved the chairs at the doctor's office. She moved them around everywhere.

oh, we don't want to forget her climbing in them numerous times and waiting for the doctor

Here she is telling us uh-oh because there was a baby crying in the hall way.

On a exciting note from our busy weekend-we got Directv! We have been having major problems with our Comcast and even after exchanging our cable box not much had changed. I have been loving all of our new channels, especially watching some Big Brother Afterdark! For the past 4 nights I have been up till at least midnight so Big Brother has been keeping me company.
And on that note-I am off to bed-early tonight!

15 Months

I turned 15 months old on Saturday but my mom was too busy embroidering over 75 chair bags to take a single picture of me that day! We go to the doctor this afternoon and then maybe she will update you on all of my stats!

My Favorite Vacation Spot

This week on Kelly's Korner "Show Us Your Life" the theme is favorite vacation spots.

Welcome to Whistler, BC! This place is one of my favorite vacation spots. If you haven't noticed we don't take many vacations during the summer we prefer ours in the winter! All of these pictures are from our honeymoon, but I had been to Whistler before that-I just don't think I had a digital camera then.
We were last in Whistler in February of 2006-which was during the 06 Winter Olympics. Let me tell you it is very weird to watch the Olympics in another country-the broadcasting is so different from what I was used to-always hearing about the US. Oh and Canadians are slightly obsessed with curling-we watched a lot of it! Anyway, Vancouver and Whistler will be hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics so you will be able to see some more of these beautiful mountains then.

This is the ONLY picture we got together on our honeymoon! Crazy I know! This was one of our favorite hang out spots in Whistler. I don't remember the name but it was a small bar/grill right off of the lifts that we would go after hitting the mountain all day.
The cute Whistler town square. The streets are heated so you are not always walking on the snow.
My cute snowboarder husband taking a break-ha, he was probably waiting on me after he raced down the mountain.
Coming back to the condo one night.
This was probably our favorite place to eat in Whistler-Splitz Burgers. It is like Subway except for burgers. They have the freshest ingredients and whole wheat buns! Then you add on some home cut french fries-so much for healthy!
Wow, looking at these pictures makes me want to go back. We are determined to get Emma into the snow at a early age. I don't think we will take her to Whistler soon but we are looking at some other mountain options closer to home.

I hope some of these pictures sent a cold chill running through you, because if you are anywhere like I am right now-it is HOTTT outside!
