Our New Friend

Wow, the summer is flying by! I don't know if I am happy or sad about that. Lately, I have really been wanting to get to work on my house (painting, new furniture, etc) but we are rarely home on the weekends. I think once the summer is over we will be home more. I tell myself we can really get some painting done while watch football on Saturdays-yeah right!
This weekend we went to the lake. I didn't really take many pictures but we had a blast! We stayed out on the lake most of the day which made for a very tired little girl come bed time. We decided by the time we got off the water at 4ish that we would just skip the nap. She was asleep pretty early and stayed that way till about 9:30 the next morning-what a treat for mom and dad!
We had to make a tent for her to get out of the sun while eating her snacks.
Finally, I would like to introduce you to our new friend. Her name is baby Sarah and she has started going everywhere with us. She went to the lake this weekend-she got to stay inside while we went on the boat-safer for her that way! Emma tells me all the time different things baby Sarah is doing and that she needs to eat snacks, etc. It is so funny to watch her get into this baby doll stage. Oh yeah, and for some reason Baby Sarah never wears clothes-I have no idea why because she has outfits that fit her but she is never wearing them!

Gym Class

We decided to try a little something new yesterday. Since Emma is not currently in school I want to try and find her some organized activities for her-one, to burn some energy and two, to get her used to interacting with other kids.
I signed her up for classes at our local Little Gym and last night was our first night and it was a success! She ran around for a solid 45 minutes playing on equipment, with balls, shoot baskets and singing songs. I think the uneven bars and beam were her favorite. She seriously feel asleep with in 15 minutes of us getting home!

Our Weekend

We had a pretty low key weekend. We just stayed in town, worked around the house on Saturday and played some on Sunday.
I tried to catch up on the laundry on Saturday-I had a little helper-maybe not too much of a helper!

Friday after work Emma and I took a detour on the way home and stopped at Muddy's for some treats for the weekend. Don't ask where this girl got her picky sweet eating behavior because Bradley and I had no problem taking our cupcakes down. Emma on the other hand wanted to eat her cupcake with a spoon-soooo slow!

Sunday I got this great idea to go to the Zoo. For some reason I thought it was going to be kinda cool-crazy, I know! I promise it was cool when I let the dogs out at 7:30 am. We still had lots of fun and Emma didn't care how sweaty she got. We got to catch the Sea Lion show which we had never seen before.

This is the last animal we saw before leaving the zoo and this is about how I felt after our morning!

Excited!!

Emma is excited to announce that she is going to be a BIG SISTER! Baby #2 will be here in February.

I really wanted to embroider her a shirt or something cute, but let's be honest, I have really been to tired to do too much or anything! Maybe she will get that shirt sometime.

Deep Thoughts...by Emma

I am constantly amazed at the things Emma says and picks up on! Here is a part of our conversation on the way home yesterday:

Emma: mama, listen to songs
Me: No, no songs right now. Mommy has a head ache
Emma: Head ache?
Me: yes, my head hurts
Emma: oh, mommy has bo bo on head
Me: yes, I guess
Emma: daddy will fix it!
*I guess Emma assumes daddy fixes all the bo bo at our house!

The night before last we went and ate at Mellow Mushroom. I didn't realize that Emma was really watching them toss the pizza dough but I guess she was! Just another example of how careful we have to be since she is always watching.

Oh, and doesn't that pickle pizza sound great...ugh!

Markers

After our marker incident a few weeks ago Honey decided to get Emma some markers of her own to play with at the office. We have some rules about our new markers: no writing on ourselves, only color on paper and she has to sit at a certain table to play with the markers. If we mess up we just put the markers away and get them back out later. She was actually doing pretty good then we got to work this morning. Well the markers were the first thing she wanted to play with and it didn't take long for them to get taken away!

Take a Nap

This activity kept us busy for about 10 minutes today!

**Another subject-I am participating in a children's book exchange-if you have done a recipe exchange this is the same idea. I still have a few spots if anyone is interested. Basically you just send one book out and your child should receive 36. Let me know if you are interested and I will send you more info-you can leave me a comment or send me an email.**

4th of July Weekend

*Warning-Picture Overload*
We ventured up to the lake for the first time this summer. I can't believe we haven't made it before now but we couldn't have asked for a more perfect weekend. The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed spending the time with family and friends!
We got there early enough on Friday to take Emma out on the ski boat and see how she would do in the water this year. She is doing great in the pool but that is with her floaties and we wanted to see what she thought about her new life jacket...she graduated (exceeded the weight limit) out of the infant jacket and Honey and Granddaddy had gotten her a toddler one for her birthday. I really wasn't sure about how she was going to do on the ski boat. We spent all last summer on the pontoon and she hadn't been on the ski boat since she was about 3 months old when we went to Hot August Blues. She did great and kept yelling "faster"!

When we weren't out on the water this weekend Emma LOVED playing with this drum set. I am so glad I don't have to have one of these at my house and she can enjoy it at the lake!

Saturday we spent the day on the water swimming, traveling to dinner and watching fireworks. Emma really seemed to enjoy the fireworks (this was her first time to see them) and she loved telling us the colors. When I put her to bed on Saturday night she even told me "fireworks not hurt you". I guess I told her this a lot so she wouldn't be scared!

We went over to Larry and Kathy's for dinner on Sunday night to cookout. Emma really enjoyed playing with Jacob-they got into everything-blocks, instruments, dog toys-you name it! We ended up driving the golf cart down to a neighbor's yard to watch the fireworks that night and it worked out really well.
I hope you and your family had a great weekend! We are so thankful for the freedom that we have and for the men and women that fight for our country!
