Show Us Where You Live Friday-Bathrooms!

So I really contemplating not participating this week, but I have just had so much fun since I joined in on the tours. I have a love/hate relationship with my bathroom. Notice that I said one bathroom! We live in a old house, while it is not that small, it only has one bathroom. When we bought the house we thought about adding another bathroom-but let's face it-bathroom remodel/builds are expensive. I would just rather sell the house and move! Plus, we don't want to pour too much money into this house and price ourselves out of the neighborhood.

I am going to show you some aspects of our bathroom. Mainly the parts that I love. Maybe you can guess the parts that I hate by the things that are left out of the pictures!

One of my favorite parts of the bathroom is the tile floor. I love the black and white tile and would never tear it up.

Currently I have a white waffle weave shower curtain hanging in here. I am kinda thinking about switching it up and going with something like this. What do you think or do you think I should bring in more of a pattern like this?

I am kinda thinking the first one with the brown, since these are my towels. I love my towels. They are Hotel Collection from Macy's. Don't ask why I picked the white and brown in the first place, because I don't know, but I know I didn't want black towels.

If we take a look inside the shower you will find a few more favorites that we use all of the time. The first being this Boon Bath Toy Organizer. This thing is great for containing all of the baby bath toys. Since there are holes, no water is trapped and thus no mildew. Also the bug's little red body comes off and you can just scoop the toys up. Don't worry, they also make a frog for the boys!

The next thing is one of my favorites. The Lush Ocean Salt is my favorite face cleaner. When you open up the jar, it just makes you think of sitting on the beach. Oh, and on top of the face cleaner is the Happy Hippy Body Wash-we love it too!

My last picture is probably the thing that I have the biggest love/hate relationship with...the green stripe tile. Now I love that there is only this one stripe, I love that the toilet is not this color (I have seen it done in old houses), and I love that it adds a little punch of color in the bathroom. But really, minty toothpaste green! Not the punch of color I would have picked. So I will continue to deal with my punch of mint green and go along hoping for more bathrooms some day soon!

Thanks for taking the tour again this week. I am off to garage sale it Saturday morning!

Photo Fiddle

I don't know if this was one of the pictures that I showed you when I talked about Emma's 1 year pictures that Mike Logan took. I loved this picture because I thought it would be a perfect one to give to Bradley since it had the golf flag in it. I also loved the shadows in the picture. I was looking for a good Father's Day present and decided to try something that I had seen on MMM's blog. I went to Photofiddle.com and try a few things out with this picture.
Since it was my first time to use the site I decided to go with a smaller print. However, I did go for the frame for $10.00 more. You really can't get something framed for that cheap! So, this is a print of a oil painting of the picture above. Sorry about the photo quality, it captured a little to much of the flash and some of the tiles in our counter top. But you get the idea!
Don't worry I already gave it to Bradley. He is moving into a new office this week and thought he might want to plan to hang it on his wall. I will definitely get more things from Photofiddle in the future.

What is my junk is someone else's treasure

Getting Ready for a Garage Sale...consuming a lot of my time right now. It is a lot of work to go through your stuff and decide what to keep. I asked Bradley to go through his closet and pull out things he didn't wear. He pulled out 4 shirts. That's right...a whole 4 shirts. We are going to make a killing on men's clothes at this sale! In the craziness of organizing I did manage a few pictures today...did anyone expect anything less?

Umm...did anyone check out Courtney's blog? She is highlighting her wedding party and started with me. She actually admitted to chasing me around the house threatening to scratch me with her toenails...gross, I know! Courtney seems to have doubts about Emma's ability to act as a flower girl in her wedding...I don't know where she might get those doubts. Maybe because...

one minute you see this happy smiling little miss...

the next minute you ask her to turn around for the camera and you get this look!!!
We will behave at the wedding...we are practicing!

The Good Stuff

I have been talking about how I am trying to encourage Emma to try different foods and not be too picky. On Friday night I had gotten some hummus out to snack on and put a little on my finger and let her eat it. Well she kept coming back for more! I saw little individual hummus servings at the grocery store this week and decided to get her one to try for lunch. The package came with some little pretzel chips. I dipped the chip in the hummus and gave it to her. she licked the it off and wanted to redip. Sorry kid, we aren't getting into double dipping, your mom was sharing that hummus with you! I did give her a spoonful on her plate to dip her mini Ritz in and I think you can tell from below she enjoyed it!
I don't know if she actually dipped her crackers or just used her fingers to stuff it in!
An exciting thing (well for us!) happened at dinner last night. Emma all of a sudden started sipping out of a straw. We have given her multiple sippy cups with straws in the past and she just didn't understand how to use them. But last night at dinner she just leaned down and took a big sip from my mom's straw. I was like "where did you learn to do that". So today we gave her milk in a sippy with a straw. She liked it for a bit then was ready to go back to the old cups. Oh well, we will keep working!

I am soooo excited. I won my first bloggy giveaway today! I won a gift certificate for stationery from Urbanity Studios Stationery. The giveaway was sponsored by one of my favorite blogs: Magnolias, Marriage and Manhattan. MMM was one of the first blogs I started reading-my friend Gleatie told me about it. Mrs. MMM recently had a baby and I love reading about her adventures in mommyhood in the big city! Go check her out.

Last Week's Out takes

Kinda stuck for a blogging subject tonight. Today was a pretty ordinary day. Ordinary days are good!

Here are some pictures that I took the past week that didn't make it to the blog but I still wanted to share.
Who would ever leave their child in the pool while they were crying just to snap a few more pictures. Never me!

I think I have mentioned that I am slightly obsessed with shoes. I am trying my best to will that obsession on to Emma! I was cleaning out her closet this past week and putting up things she had already grown out of. This is the pile of shoes being boxed up. Maybe I should slow up on the shoe purchases? Nah!
We definitely did NOT give Emma a half a loaf of bread at Old Venice just to keep her happy so we could finish our dinner.

Remember Friday when we toured home offices? I talked about that red chair that I share with the pups. Well the other night I guess I was being mean and wasn't sharing the chair with Cassidy. I heard her huff and puff and looked over and she was curled up in the bean bag.

Finally, here are some pictures that I snapped in the car on the way to work this morning. Emma was giving her baby some milk.

Bathing Beauty

We had a great weekend. This was the first weekend in a while that we haven't had anything to do.

Friday afternoon Emma spent some time in her new baby pool. This is the first time that we have filled the pool up and she really enjoyed it!

Heading to the pool
Watching Dad fill up the pool. Notice had Bradley had to include the slide into the pool. We had to set up a whole water park atmosphere in our backyard-not really!

Now it is finally time to splash around!

Sliding into the pool. Does anyone else remember hiving slides like these. I am pretty sure we had one-it was yellow and red!

We didn't spend too long in the pool on Friday because we had just filled it up so it was cold. She splashed around until her lips started quivering and then we got out. We decided to leave the water in the pool and thought it might be warm for a swim on Saturday.

Friday night some friends came over and we grilled out and played Phase 10.

Saturday we got up and I worked on some embroidery jobs. You can check out my finished projects over at Emma's Closet. While the embroidery machine was working overtime I was working around the house gathering stuff for the garage sale that Courtney and I are having next weekend. When I get finished gathering everything together, I will take a picture. It is amazing how much junk you can accumulate!

After lunch on Saturday we headed down to Oxford to hang out with some of my friends that were in town to watch the baseball super regionals. Unfortunately, the Rebels did not make it to the CWS, but we did have fun visiting. And if anyone was wondering and wants to be super jealous-We ate at Proud Larry's-love it! Emma especially loved the fries from Larry's-who wouldn't!

Sunday we headed to church to work in the nursery. This is the dress she wore to church but it is also what she wore to Courtney and Gaines' engagement party last night. We didn't take any pictures last night so I thought I would show the one from before church. Courtney got her the dress for her birthday!

Sunday afternoon we did a little more swimming in our pool.

Notice the difference in the two blues in the above and below pictures. The above picture was taken when I changed the setting on my camera to make the blues more vibrant. I really like how the picture turned out. The below picture is just the regular setting. You can really tell a difference.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Two Recipes

I just finished making two snack foods for us to eat on this week. I have been trying to make sure Emma eats a good variety of foods when we are at home. I don't want her to become a picky eater so I make sure and give her a variety of different foods. Here is what I made:

Peanut Butter/Cinnamon Dip-recipe courtesy of Jeanna Argo
1/2 cup of creamy peanut butter
8oz of vanilla yogurt-I used lite yogurt
1/8 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup of whipped topping-again I used lite

Whisk together peanut butter, yogurt and cinnamon until blended. Stir whipped topping in peanut butter mixture until blended. Refrigerate before serving.

This dip is great with apples and pears, but I also dipped some celery sticks in it this afternoon and Emma likes that too!

The other thing I made was muffins made with pumpkin. If you have ever done Weight Watchers you might have been given a recipe to make cupcakes or muffins out of a cake mix and canned pumpkin. This is what I did except I made mini muffins that would be about 2-3 bites for Emma. I figured this would be a good way for Emma to get some pumpkin (beta carotene) and I could have some healthy snacks on hand! Also, these are so simple to make.

1 15oz can of pumpkin
1 cake mix-any kind, I used yellow, but I have had chocolate also
1 1/2 cups of water

Mix all together. Put in muffin tins and bake at 350 degrees for 25-35 minutes. I did the mini muffins for about 20 minutes.

Emma taste tested and loved them! Mission accomplished.

Ok, I will be back later with some pictures from the weekend. We are headed to an engagement dinner for Courtney. I will blog during the basketball game tonight.
