Christmas with Pa Frankie and Granny T

Last Sunday Bradley's dad and Tammy came in town to celebrate Christmas. We had a great afternoon visit! They brought Emma her highchair and as you can tell from previous pictures we have already put it to use.

First Tooth

This post is really more for me so I can remember this date. I stuck my finger in Emma's mouth today at lunch and felt a sharp little something. Felt around more and sure enough there is a tooth coming through on the bottom.
Some day I am going to fill in Emma's baby book and I will probably have to use the blog to get the dates for her milestones, so I thought I would write this down really quick. I will be back soon with some pictures.

Throwback Thursday

Well I am sitting here watching the National Championship game so I thought I would write while I watch. I am not going to lie that I am a bit depressed that college football is over. Now what do I watch on Saturdays? B is packing his bags and snowboard to head out to Vail for a week. I am so jealous! I am starting to think that a week long bachelor party is alittle excessive. I thought these type of things usually happened over a weekend.
I had to do some picture scanning for alittle Pi Phi project I was working on, so I thought I would share my pictures. I know that my pi phi friends are probably some of my most loyal readers and thought they might enjoy the throw backs to the good ole days of college!

I am pretty sure this is rush my senior year, because I was president and didn't have to buy that shirt. Nelly, I put this pic up for you....yes, the shirts were made of gold!

Here is me and B at Spring Formal my junior year. Once again, this was when I was pres so we probably didn't have that great a time at formal b/c we spent most of our time making sure everyone behaved.

Roomies, Jen and I at some kind of swap. Jen, do you remember what swap this would have been? Make sure and check out Jen's blog to the left (The Bethells). We are sure that Emma and Lilly will be roomies in the pi phi house one day!

My big sis, Julie and twin, Melinda before rush one year. I am thinking this was maybe soph. year. Julie also has a blog to the left ( The Travillos)

This was on Bid Day freshman year with Jackie. Jackie was like two years older than me and I don't really know what happened to her after graduation...sorry she doesn't have a link to the left, haha!

Well expect more writing next week. Like I said, B will be gone so after Emma goes to bed I will need something to fill my time!

Happy Birthday Grace

Happy 1st Birthday to cousin Grace. We can't wait to see you in a few weeks! Emma had alot of fun playing...eating your sign!

We had to enlist the help of Honey to be able to see the sign

Oh, in case anyone was wondering, the Cheesy Chicken soup turned out really good! It was so cold last night and it was the perfect dinner. The added bonus was that my stock and chicken were already done from the night before so it didn't take that long to fix! We even had leftovers for lunch...yum, yum!

A Little bit of alot!

So what have we been up to lately?

Pulling up on everything. We now have a mobile baby. No room is safe, no spot is high enough for the dogs (the couch used to be a very safe place)

We haven't started cruising yet...but it is coming!

Emma's playroom post Christmas. I purposely put her playroom in the back of the house so I would not feel like I had to have it cleaned up all of the time. Since she only spends about 30 seconds per toy anyway, I would spend my whole day following her around picking up toys if I felt they needed to be in order!

Trying out our new highchair! Emma is chewing on some celery here. She really likes chewing on these hard things like celery and carrots. She is about to get some teeth on the bottom so I can only assume this feels good on her gums. Don't worry, the celery sticks are long and we sit with her when ever she is chewing on them.

Look who is lurking in the background waiting for her to drop that celery. By the way, it did get dropped, and it did get eaten!
Celery and Sweet Potato Puffs...Yum.
Right now we are watching the Fiesta Bowl...college football is coming to an end and I am so sad. What will I do after football is over. We are not baseball fans and the summer months are so long without football. I am also cooking a whole chicken and making some stock for a soup that I am making tomorrow night. I thought I would share the recipe. My sister gave it to me and it is so easy and so good. Bradley even loves it and he is super picky!
Chicken and Cheese Soup
3-4 chicken breast
1/2 cup chopped carrots
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/3 cup chopped onion
4 tablespoons of butter
salt and pepper
1 lb of velveeta (low fat works just as well)
4 cups chicken broth
2 cups milk
In a pot, cook chicken in water. Save broth. In a large sauce pan, melt butter. Add carrots, celery and onion. Sauté for 15 min (actually I skipped saute the veggies b/c I had them in my broth to add the flavor). Add broth, seasonings and simmer for 10 minutes. Add chicken. Stir in velveeta and milk, making sure you don’t boil soup as milk will curdle.
So good and great on a cold night!

My 100th Post

How exciting...my 100th post! I looked back and I wrote my first post on Jan 7th of 2008, so it has taken my right at a year to write 100 posts. That is pretty good, huh? I will say that Emma has probably consumed about 95% of this blog, but that is OK. I didn't do an end of 2008 or a New Year's post so for my 100th post I am going to look back (quickly) through last year and then write about what I hope to accomplish for 2009. You can watch and see if these things really get accomplished!

2008

Bradley and I celebrated our 2nd Anniversary. I don't have any actual pictures but we went to Jarrett's like we do each year. I would have posted a wedding pictures but my wedding pics weren't online and I don't have a scanner hooked up at home!

In March or April I got an updated kitchen. I waited many months for this and it was worth the wait!

On May 15th Emma graced us with her presence and our lives will never be the same! What a fun adventure the last 7 months have been...and they have flown by.

Bradley and I both turned 27 this year.

Emma celebrated her first Halloween

Learning to crawl...we have this mastered now!

Our First Christmas with Emma
Oh, and to end 2008 I will tell you what we did for New Year's Eve. I didn't take any pictures but we had a rocking good time. Are you ready for this? Bradley, Zed, Lindsay, Peyton and myself (and Emma but she went to bed right after everyone came over) cooked out steaks at our house. After dinner we broke out the game and played a serious game of MONOPOLY! That's right folks, I spent my New Year's playing Monopoly-and I enjoyed it. We started our game around 9 and didn't finish until like 2am. We did take a break for a toast at midnight but then right back to playing! Peyton won in the end and we all had a great time! I wouldn't have pick a better way to spend the night-good times with some of our best friends!

Well 2008 flew by and I know there will be so many fun things to write about in 2009. I have thought and thought about New Year's resolutions and I have decided not to make any resolutions. I don't really ever keep them, so instead I am making a list of things that I would like to accomplish in 2009. Here we go, in no particular order:
1. find a new house-not in the Memphis city limits
2. start commenting on other people's blogs more...no more "blog stalking" for me. I love comments (hint, hint) and I have decided the way to start getting comments is leaving comments!
3. take Emma to the snow next winter-Colorado, Virginia, I don't really care-we just have to get her to the snow
4. cook more at home...this will be a hard one for me.
5. attend at least one Ole Miss football game. I think this one will be easy since there are already plans in the works for the Ole Miss/Tennessee game. Emma and Lilly in the Grove-it is going to be awesome. Maybe we will even take them on their first tour of the Pi Phi house and show them their future room-last one on the right, bottom floor! BTW...Hotty Toddy to my Rebels for winning the Cotton Bowl. I was the first one to doubt their ability, but they really showed me! Way to go!
6. put more money in Emma's savings...private school is expensive!
7. go on a vacation
8. be a patient and loving role model for Emma.
9. Give Emma a rocking 1st birthday party...can you tell I have already been thinking about it?
10. Have lots of fun with my husband...go on dates, trips, play games (we played Wii for about 2 hours tonight), etc. Just have fun enjoying each other and not let Emma consume our whole lives. Make time for just us!
Well that is all I can think of right now. It is 11pm and I have been working on this post off and on since about 2 this afternoon. It is getting late and it is back to work tomorrow. Does anyone have any resolutions/accomplishments for 2009 that they want to share...I would love to hear them!

Christmas at MiMi and Daddy Mac's

We went to my parent's house for Christmas Lunch. My grandmother and Bob came over from Arkansas and Courtney and Gaines were there too. We had so much fun! Emma enjoyed showing off for everyone, especially while playing with all of the tissue paper. After our long day Emma fell asleep on the way home and some of our friends came over to play the new Wii.
